General Accommodations

Dmkbooks has compiled a list of accommodations and adaptive equipment resource links, including the Job Accommodation Network, which can help an individual and employer sort through what accommodations can be useful for the individual. Accommodations are defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act as “a modification or adjustment to a job, the work environment, or the way things are usually done during the hiring process. These modifications enable an individual with a disability to have an equal opportunity not only to get a job, but successfully perform their job tasks to the same extent as people without disabilities.” Read more on this definition here.

Adaptive Equipment

Adaptive Equipment is equipment used to aid in the ability of a person with a disability to move about their home and work environment and achieve activities of daily living (ADLs) such as completing tasks such as hygiene, dressing, cooking, seeing, and moving around their environment.
